The Virtual University of Pakistan held its last part of the 12th convocation in Islamabad on Friday, 24th February 2023, in which 3379 degrees were awarded to graduates of various fields. The passing out graduates included the students from Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. Additionally, Fifty-three merit certificates and eleven gold medals were also awarded in recognition of the outstanding performance of the position holders.

Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Chairman Higher Education Commission attended the function as the Chief Guest.

Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Rector of Virtual University, highlighted the achievements of Virtual University and its important role in imparting technology-based quality education to remote areas of the country. He advised the students to always respect their parents. Rector Virtual University along with the Chief Guest also distributed degrees to all the passing out graduates. The convocation was attended by many dignitaries, faculty, staff, students, and their parents.

On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Chairman of HEC praised the Virtual University of Pakistan for its efforts in providing quality education. I am the witness that the founder Rector VU Dr. Naveed A Malik, single handedly established the first ever IT based university, which is now the second largest university of Pakistan, he added. Dr. Mukhtar said i was lucky enough to be the part of the pioneer team of Virtual University. "I can recall all the memories which I gathered is a pioneer team member. He added.

In his speech he said i am pretty sure that VU is doing a fabulous job, although the government was a little late in initiating Virtual University, even then VU has come so far in the dissemination of quality education in a very short period of time. He also argued that the Government of Pakistan to uplift the level of VU at maximum capacity so that we can enhance the literacy level of Pakistan.
